Arrival, and a Really Predictable View.

So I've arrived in Beijing. The arrival bit went fine, but the taxi driver who didn't speak English (at all) and didn't know where my apartment was and dropped me off in a parking garage...that went a little less well. But I survived (obviously), and now all I have to do is get used to the time difference, get used to the food, find my way to my classes, and learn the language. Or something like that. In any case, this is the view out the window of my apartment's living room.

Now, you might be thinking "that's just another apartment building. They're built in groups. No big deal." Well, how about you take a look at the rest of the city...

That would be from a walking bridge over a street. And yes, the entire city is made up of tall buildings. Mostly apartments and office buildings, with the small shops downstairs, and the supermarkets underground.
